When you need it
Keep the business moving while you find the right person.
A manager leaves. Recruitment takes longer than planned. A busy season approaches, or your business needs additional leadership during a period of change. These situations don't always call for another permanent appointment.
Recruiting a good manager takes time. Making a permanent appointment simply because you need someone immediately can create bigger problems later. Interim management gives you the space to make that decision properly.
I can maintain day to day operations, manage the team and uphold standards while you recruit, reorganise or prepare for the next stage of the business. You keep control of the long term decisions without compromising the operation in the meantime.
What I take responsibility for
I work within the operation, alongside the people delivering the service. The role is to lead, make decisions and keep the business running effectively.
Management experience across the business
From country house hotels to 500 covers a day.
I've held senior food and beverage management roles in luxury country house hotels and general management responsibility for a busy independent city inn. I was part of the opening team of a country house property opening to the public for the first time. In its first year it won AA Best Hotel in Scotland, Best Hotel in Scotland at the Scottish Hotel Awards and achieved three AA Rosettes. I can help new owners and new openings establish their standards from day one.
I've also owned and operated my own hospitality business. In 2026 I've provided interim support across multiple hotels, including full general management cover.
Calm, consistent leadership
Experience matters most when things aren't straightforward.
Hospitality doesn't always follow the plan. I've managed serious incidents, demanding services, staffing shortages and challenging operational situations.
My approach is to establish what needs attention, make clear decisions and give the team the support and direction to deliver. I don't arrive assuming everything needs to change. I look at what's working, where the gaps are and what will make the greatest difference to the business.
What happens when I leave?
An interim appointment should leave the business stronger.
The priorities are agreed at the outset and developed as the assignment progresses. The intention is to leave standards and systems that continue to work after my involvement ends.
- Clearer operating procedures
- Better stock routines
- More confident supervisors
- A structured handover to your next manager

Tell me about your venue, the management cover required and the timescale you're working with. I'll discuss how I can support the operation and whether my availability matches your needs.
